Ignacio Patricio Orellana Alarcón was born on August 29, 1973, in Chile. A drummer from his teens, he built a career that moves between performing, recording, photography and storytelling. Based in New York, he has continued to connect the Chilean and American music scenes through his own projects and independent media.

Orellana began playing drums at 14. Rock en español led him toward heavier music, and the Chilean underground became the setting for his earliest recordings and shows. With Pirosaint he recorded the demos Atrocity Not Condign in 1992 and Infected Dreams in 1994, followed by the New God EP in 1997.

He studied television direction and production, earning his degree in 1998. From 1994 to 1997, he assisted with Teletón productions and worked as a stage manager at local festivals. In 1996, he completed an internship at La Red, Canal 4 Chile. His television training gave him a foundation in audio and video that would continue to inform his work with musicians.

Before moving to the United States, Orellana recorded drums with Primate for Virusscanning. In New York he played with Downfire, whose album Damnation appeared in 2010, and worked with Sacred Oath and singer Ronny Munroe. Pirosaint continued across borders, leading to Know Thyself in 2021. Quemasantos brought Spanish-language metal into another long-distance collaboration; its second album, Stranded In Hell, followed in 2026.

Photography became another way to document the music around him. His concert work, portraits, interviews and video production draw on the same experience of performance and television. His professional history in New York also includes Assembling NYC, a furniture assembly and maintenance business. For commissioned photography, visit iorellanaphoto.com.

Founded in 2007, Digmetalworld became an independent home for music and releases. Through ArmyOfOneTV, Orellana has documented artists through interviews, concert coverage and video. Both projects reflect a sustained connection to the people and work behind heavy music.
Interviews, coverage and published work trace the music, images and independent projects across his career.

In 2026, Orellana began developing EOS, an editorial system intended to help independent music outlets process press material, build a reusable artist knowledge base and prepare articles for publication. It is a current project in development.
